Faculty Shot

Jo Ellen Misakian

I cannot imagine a more exciting and rewarding place to work than a library. My career in the library world began as a paraprofessional in a school library where I worked for a number of years. From there, I moved into the professional realm and became the “librarian of record” for over a hundred schools. This enabled me to become familiar with school libraries, from the most basic to the highest degree of library service. For the past several of years, I have been extremely privileged and honored to teach library service to both support staff and professionals. My involvement with a statewide network which consists of all different types of libraries, academic, public, school and special has allowed me to know and appreciate the differences—and the similarities—of all libraries.
