What is the Technology Tools for Teaching Online course?
Technology Tools for Teaching Online is a hands-on course that takes a holistic view of the challenges of online teaching and the required technologies. Video conferencing is an integral part of this course, with tutorials and assignments designed for teachers to use their selected VC platform features. Teachers will learn to upload recorded VC sessions and make tutorials. There is much more to this course, including creating an online site for students/parents to keep informed. Other technologies include Google Forms to create quizzes and YouTube to post videos and playlists. All the applications in this course are free, and students can substitute their software. The hardware required includes a web camera, microphone, and speakers; these are standard in laptops and can be added to desktop computers. Students need access to a smartphone. A reliable connection to the Internet is also required. Beyond technology, the needs of students and their parents working from home are addressed. This course applies to all grade levels. Access to students is optional.

Teachers will learn how to use different technology to create lesson plans, host virtual classroom discussions, keep an organized online classroom, and communicate effectively with students and parents.

- How to edit recorded meeting sessions
- How to create an online site for students/parents to keep informed

Technology
Educators will need a computer that has a microphone and speakers as well as a stable Internet connection in order to engage in the video conferencing platform. Other software applications including Google Documents or Microsoft 360 tools will be woven into the class. Resources including tutorials are all online.
