'Gold was the Making of a Town called Bodie' is the theme of this much-loved course that emphasizes the Ghost Town of Bodie, California, located off Highway 395, at Bodie State Historic Park. It is now brought to you in an online format. Even though it's charm is the on-site visitations where you experience history where it actually happened, non-travel students now have an alternative. Course materials include CD interviews with old-time former Bodie residents, & a CD guided Walking Tour by Al Lichti, the course originator. The course text's author shares his exciting personal observations, experiences, adventures, and memories of early life in Bodie. You will cover such a variety of subject matter making it easy for you to develop engaging lesson plans packed with National & State Standards.

Note: Required and optional books must be acquired separately.

This course is applicable towards the California History Certificate.

I have 18 years of experience in the field of education, primarily in Special Education. I have taught nearly all grade levels, both as a Resource Specialist and Special Day Class teacher. In addition, for 4 years, I worked in administration, supporting programs at the district, county, and statewide level. In my career, I had the privilege to work alongside administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, and community partners in traditional schools, charter schools, virtual schools, and dual-language immersion schools. I believe that education is a lifelong process which doesn’t end after earning a degree or beginning a career. I see great value in continuing education courses which allow educators an opportunity to engage with other professionals, reflect, refine their skill-set and gain new knowledge to take back to their classrooms.
