Become more knowledgeable about California's Gold Rush and the impact it had on California's history. In this online course, you will learn about Native Americans and settlers in the Gold Rush areas. You will gain a deeper understanding of labor-intensive mining and capital-intensive mining in Coloma, Grass Valley, and Nevada City. Through video tours you will visit the James Marshall Gold Discovery Site, The Empire Mine, and the North Star Mine Powerhouse. You will learn about mining, tools of the trade, and hear tales of the job. Through video lesson and oral histories, you will become familiar with many significant historic sites, and ordinary and extraordinary people. Teachers will be able to take the content of this course as well as the engaging practical technological lessons right back to their classrooms.

NOTE: Required book must be acquired separately.

This course is applicable towards the California History Certificate.
