What is Teaching With Tinkercad?

This course offers educators the opportunity to learn the best practices for Teaching With Tinkercad, a free collection of online software tools. By learning Tinkercad for teachers, educators can use tools to create 3D digital designs ready for 3D printing or incorporation into projects. It integrates with Google/Tinkercad Classroom and is 100% cloud-based, meaning it operates on any device that can run a web browser, including Chromebooks and iPads.

What Will You Learn?

This course introduces educators to Tinkercad for teachers and the world of 3D modeling. All instruction is online, and there are no extra materials to purchase. Educators who complete the Teaching with Tinkercad course explore and implement the use of 3D modeling in their instruction.

Teachers learn to discover and use Tinkercad resources in the education-sharing community and develop classroom tools and collaborative support for implementing Tinkercad in STEM lessons. They also learn to create new — and modify existing — Tinkercad models to integrate into their instruction.

What Are the Assignments and Projects?

The professional development Teaching With Tinkercad course is self-paced. Fresno Pacific University allows students to enroll at any time and take up to one year from the registration date to complete all assignments. Modules within the course include:

  • The Value of 3D Modeling Across the Curriculum
  • Creating A Tinkercad Classroom
  • Navigation and Menus
  • Making and Manipulating Grouped Objects
  • 3D Modeling Assignments

Who Should Enroll in the Teaching With Tinkercad Course?

Teaching With Tinkercad is designed for any educator and is aligned with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

What Educators Who Took the Teaching With Tinkercad Course Are Saying

“This course was fantastic. I thought that I had self-taught myself a decent amount of Tinkercad, but I found that there was so much more. Module 5: Modeling Assignments was my favorite part of the course, and I felt like I learned so much about the platform in that module.”
– Educator, Pennsylvania

“In this course, you will be fully immersed as a student but never lose sight of the fact that you are a teacher. You will learn how to use Tinkercad far beyond beginner level for yourself and you will make intentional plans to use in your classroom. The instructional videos, instructor explanations and flexible assignments are engaging, applicable and enjoyable.”
– Educator, New York
