This was a wonderful course that involved a lot of reflection on my current practices and how they affect marginalized students.

The most important lesson that I have learned as a result of this course is that self-reflection is an invaluable tool, as an educator and as a person who strives to be their best self. It is through self-reflection that I completed in this course that I have become a better teacher, mom, friend, and partner. I understand that self-reflection is not an easy practice and it is not a one time thing. I have learned that teaching belonging, inclusion, and empathy creates a climate and culture in my classroom that mimics the world the children should be living in once they leave our school. These skills help to foster an environment where learning can take place, because the students feel comfortable, loved, and free to take risks. The most valuable lesson that I learned is that I deserve to feel included and that I belong. That my differences allow me to contribute a unique perspective
