I just completed the questionnaire and enjoyed the course. Much of the material was familiar to me but helped reinforce my knowledge. The projects at the end of each unit were valuable and useful for me as a teacher and I feel I will actually use what I created. I liked that there were various options for assignments at the end of each unit.

I have taken a lot of different items from each video and module from this course, including the first aid, weather, risk management, and connecting with nature modules. I was able to create lessons and slideshows in this course that I can not only use in my professional life as a teacher, but also in my personal life. Teaching the items that I researched in this class will help me in my personal life as I will be able to learn a lot from the students I teach and then apply that to my family life. The most valuable lesson that I learned is to make sure to reflect on past experiences and be willing to learn new things so that you can make sure you are making responsible decisions in the backcountry. I found that through the stories in the videos and from stories that were shared through others in reflections that I will be more competent in any adventures that I choose.

I loved being able to have a year to complete this course. I started in July, but once school and officiating field hockey started, I had to stop until my holiday break in December.
