Step into the future of teaching with the hands-on course, Modifying Educational Materials with AI. Discover how easy-to-use AI tools can streamline your workflow and help you create engaging, standards-based, personalized curriculum using existing resources. AI teaching assistants designed by teachers for teachers offer a wide range of optimized tools that enable you to import text files, PDFs, images, websites, handwriting, and YouTube Videos, and to export curricular materials to enhance learning for students at different levels. Additionally, these tools can convert content into multiple formats, including presentations, guided notes, graphic organizers, scenarios, and role-plays, while integrating seamlessly with applications you already use, such as Google Docs, Forms, Slides, and Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. You will learn strategies for generating effective prompts that harness large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot. Learning is delivered through hands-on activities, online resources, and video tutorials via Canvas. An entire module is dedicated to resources you can draw on as you delve into the course curriculum. Course materials are AI newcomer-friendly and include specific tools and grade-level application examples. Assignments include creating curricular materials you can take directly to your classroom. This is a standalone course within the AI Flash Innovative Course Series. Access to students is not necessary for successful course completion or mastery of the course objectives.

I feel so blessed to have had a job that I totally loved to do each and every day. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching elementary aged students for the past 38 years. I liked not only working with the children, but their families as well. I have made many lifelong connections with many of them. As a teacher, it is such a rewarding feeling to see my students “light come on” and see them understand the objective of the lesson. I was also very fond of working with other teachers and administrators and helping them understand and learn about technology. I always liked integrating technology into my lessons and helping others do the same. This really makes lessons come to life. All my FPU courses are very helpful for teachers to learn how to integrate technology into their classroom lessons. Working with my FPU students is great because they really want to learn and use what they have learned to make their classroom lessons so much better and more meaningful for their students.
