After registering, see syllabus for required additional coursework to be completed in order to receive units for attendance. Please include your Kagan certificate when submitting coursework.
Develop your primary students' foundational reading skills using highly engaging Kagan Cooperative Learning structures! Come learn how to engage all your little ones in the strands of the Scarborough Reading and Writing Rope. Add simple tools to your teaching toolbox to reinforce the foundational reading skills using whole group, small group, and center activities. Develop verbal reasoning with structures where everyone must fully participate by sharing their ideas, thoughts, and opinions. Your students will practice phonological awareness skills, decoding skills, sight word recognition skills, while getting immediate corrective feedback. Learn how to improve fluency, decoding, and comprehension skills with pair reading. Students will use quizzing and coaching structures for vocabulary, language structures, and literacy knowledge. See how using Kagan structures can create a writing plan and purpose for students' writing. We purposely select texts to build background knowledge, facts, concepts, and explore vocabulary through sharing with partners and teammates, empowering our little ones to become incredible writers at every level.
NOTE: Students must have already attended a Kagan workshop (within 1 year) or registered for the course with Kagan PRIOR TO registering for college credit through Fresno Pacific University.
