This class took such a large concept and made it approachable. It helped me feel more comfortable with what I need and what my students need to have a successful experience with PBL. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in implementing PBL into their lessons, units or yearly plans. I'm excited to chance up my routine for units and help students feel engaged and a part of the learning process again. The pandemic changed how students work and think (though we know it was coming-it just came faster). PBL helps shift the learning and the responsibility back onto the students and this class makes PBL seem so manageable.

Hello! This course has really opened my eyes and gave me new ideas to use with my students. Even though my situation is a little different than teachers I still found this course to be extremely informative. I am a speech-language pathologist and I work with students with articulation, fluency, pragmatic or language challenges. The idea of PBL can incorporate all of those skills and can work with each of my students in their own way that targets their skills. The one thing that I am taking away from this course is that PBL impacts the students more because it is typically something that they create that impacts their community in some way. Even though I don’t do many “projects” as a speech-language pathologist, I always thought of projects or presentations occurring after a unit of study as supplemental and more of a review of what they had learned. When I think back to when I was in school, I don’t remember ANY of the projects that I created and I think that I would have been able to connect more with my projects if I participated in PBL and was able to connect it with my everyday life. As educators, we want to encourage students to be independent and honestly, I can’t think of a better way to create that independence than with PBL. I am very glad that I took this course and I am going to incorporate it into my speech sessions especially for students who are a little older and able to conduct research a little easier etc. This was a great course!

I am walking away with a much deeper appreciation of the possibilities that problem-based learning provides to the depth and breadth of learning and the ability to make learning meaningful to students. It's also always a plus to walk away with materials that I created to be used in my classroom.

I felt like this is a great idea for an elective class and I will definitely use what I learned with my students. However many of the resource links were broken. Most of the assignment and resource pages have not been updated in years and the information and ideas were outdated. It would be great if the professor would update their course to reflect the ideas and resources that are available to teachers today.

Although I feel like a learned a lot from taking this course, I was disappointed with the outdated links and resources the professors were using. Most of the postings have not been updated since 2013 and about half the links are broken/not working. Other than that, if you are an independent and resourceful learner you will create a fun PBL project for your students. Best of luck!
