Computers in the Classroom
The teacher's mastery of technology is the key to the successful future of our youth. Teachers have a responsibility to elevate their understanding of and expertise in computers, ultimately integrating technology into their curriculum in useful and meaningful ways. In doing so, they can pass along invaluable skills which will last a lifetime to their students. This course begins by discussing the methodologies and benefits of integrating technology across the curriculum. Learning theory and social contexts, including online safety, are also addressed.
In the second half of the course, participants are presented with a variety of hands-on exercises designed to model effective implementation of technology in the classroom. Instructor support is readily available by email or phone. All assignments may be completed without classroom participation. Course materials include a physical workbook shipped to the student and a dedicated website containing a wealth of resources.
This course is applicable towards the Classroom Technology Integration Certificate.

Just as my mother lived from the dawn of the airplane to watching men walk on the moon, I’ve witnessed the computer shrink in size from a locomotive to a fingernail; from costing more than a house to less than a pair of shoes. In 35 years I’ve worked as a teacher, lecturer, trainer, and technology coordinator, always striving to find the best way to teach. If a pencil does the job, use a pencil. Simple.
