I took this course directly after finishing “WWII: Battlefield Europe" and I feel like that was the perfect choice for me. I came into this course with the knowledge of the timeline, battles, leaders, and controversies but not the personal stories. This course was incredibly enriching and allowed me to solidify my perception of war. Wars are started by leaders but fought and endured by the people. The individual perspectives presented in this course displayed humanity in all its forms. My take away for my teaching moving forward is that I am going to try to incorporate more first hand experiences in my class. I currently teach Ancient Civilizations to 6th graders, so that may require some serious digging, but after taking this course I feel that it is so significantly important for students to see that humans have always been humans. We have always loved, feared, and hoped, the only thing that changes is the type of technology we have at our disposal. The presentation of this course is a favorite of mine. I like the ability to explore project topics and types to better engage my own students. Thank you so much for this experience.
