This is a fascinating course, if you want to incorporate film and movie clips into your ELA classroom. I learned a ton of movie terminology and teaching tips to translate film into my teaching. I took off a star because this course was more work than the other courses I've taken at Fresno.

This course fundamentally changed the way I think about using films in the ELA classroom. Even though some aspects of the text are dated, the content is directly relevant to current pedagogy. This course had me thinking about ways to use film clips and full films much the same way as a novel, in a way that students will find engaging and educational.

I've never really understood how to use movies meaningfully in the classroom and so I mostly avoided using movies at all. I almost never showed movie clips. This class has given me the tools and understanding I need to feel confident I can use the analysis of movie clips and entire movies in my classroom to the students' benefit. I'm not just confident; I'm excited.
