This course fundamentally changed the way I think about using films in the ELA classroom. Even though some aspects of the text are dated, the content is directly relevant to current pedagogy. This course had me thinking about ways to use film clips and full films much the same way as a novel, in a way that students will find engaging and educational.

I've never really understood how to use movies meaningfully in the classroom and so I mostly avoided using movies at all. I almost never showed movie clips. This class has given me the tools and understanding I need to feel confident I can use the analysis of movie clips and entire movies in my classroom to the students' benefit. I'm not just confident; I'm excited.

Excellent class. I enjoyed the text that the teacher chose to use and took a lot away from the experience that I will hope to use in my classroom.

I had a lot of great guidance in developing practical materials I can use to run my current courses. I also got to do some vital work for the media literacy class I will teach this year.
