I thought this course was definitely a benefit to my practice. As I recently transitioned from a classroom teaching role, to a coaching role, it provided some good backgroud for the role of a mentor. I loved the self paced option so I could complete assignments when I chose to or when I had more time.

This course was very well paced and appropriately challenging. The text was a very manageable read and the modules helped me reflect on the topics. The big assignment in the class was putting together a welcome packet for a new teacher, which was fun and I actually get to use it!

Text was very well written and chosen well. I did not love doing the discussion boards, as the asynchronous nature of the course meant it was not very engaging. The activities were thought-provoking and my own view as a teacher and mentor have changed tremendously since beginning this course.

This course is awesome! For any teachers or administrators working with either student teachers or first or second year teachers in need of information and guidance on how to be an effective mentor then this is the course for you. The instructor Rob Carey is fantastic, he provides timely feedback on assignments, he is easy to communicate with. This is one of the best courses I have taken from Fresno Pacific and I am starting the school year much more confident in my ability to an effective mentor to my student teacher.
