This course is designed for Tier 1, whole class instruction using Beginning SIPPS and is based on the work of John Shefelbine in systematic instruction in phonological awareness and phonics based instruction at the beginning level of reading. This course utilizes a literacy instructional model for working with students in the whole class setting. Although this course requires the prerequisite of practical application of teaching, the coursework hours to be credited are based upon reflections, readings, observing videos, student study, lesson documentation and in depth study outside of your school district contract time. Must have access to school, district, or personally purchased curriculum. Coursework is 15 total hours broken up into 3 modules. (initial class training, reading and coursework, documenting and reflection).
