5/30/26 - Registration for this class will close the Friday before at 11:30am.
Teaching is becoming more challenging as a profession: more disabilities, less information about these disabilities, and more unruly classes & we add anxious students not being able to succeed.
Being a student also has been perplexing in our time & more stressful too!
Recent research by Stanford University School of Medicine & Harvard university Medical Center found the brain's fear center sends signals to the decision-making part of the brain that makes it harder to regulate negative emotions in chronically stressed or anxious children.
As teachers we need to be aware of dyscalculia & dysgraphia to ensure that students with these learning disabilities can succeed in their math & writing , these cognitive shortcoming affects the brain's ability to process numbers & writing!
The more we know about different conditions of learning disabilities, the better we can better serve our students!
After registering, please email the instructor to receive your reading assignments and zoom link: Dr. Maryam Torbati.
