Memory Tools or Graphic organizers/Mind maps will help all types of learners (regardless of subject area) to develop an awareness of; the various structures found in informational texts to improve comprehension, recall and memory. They are pictorial arrangements of ideas showing major ideas connected by supporting details through geometric shapes, lines and arrows. Once learners have been trained in the (8 essential) use of graphic organizers/mind maps and have an understanding of text structures, they can create their own as needed. This will help the memory to be able to recall and retrieve information more efficiently.
