Gifted and talented students have unique psychosocial characteristics that influence their development, and their interactions with their environment. This course explores some of these characteristics, such as intensity, perfectionism, underachievement, depression, introversion, and gender issues. Implications for appropriate services for gifted students in a standards-based classroom will be discussed, along with strategies for responsive teaching and forming positive partnerships with parents.
