Designed for K-12 music educators across Fresno County, this interactive Professional Learning Community (PLC) offers a collaborative space to elevate music instruction, curriculum planning and design, and assessment of student growth both individually and in the ensemble setting. Participants will explore grade-appropriate repertoire, study a wide variety of music, and evaluate both analog and digital curriculum options. Throughout the course, educators will participate in hands-on pedagogy masterclasses led by local instrumental experts, engage in cross-district networking, and model in-class discussion techniques through music analysis.
In addition to pedagogical growth, participants will engage in comprehensive resource sharing addressing fiscal responsibilities, program logistics, instrument maintenance, and effective communication strategies with parents, administrators, and the community. Last year featured distinguished guest presenters such as Mike Stone (district-wide music education development), Allan Kristensen (percussion), Elisha Wells (French horn), and Max Hembd (Music Production). Some of the outstanding presenters lined up for this year include Paul Lucckesi (Fresno City College) to help tackle the topic of Jazz education and Dr. Matt Darling (CSU Fresno) to improve and deepen our understanding of percussion instruments and the various pedagogies required for each.
Simply put, this PLC blends practical musicianship skills with administrative strategies to empower music educators across all grade levels to be and bring the best to their students.
