I highly recommend this course! It provides a strong, practical refresher on the legal and ethical foundations of special education that directly connects to daily classroom practice. The emphasis on family collaboration and student advocacy is especially valuable for helping teachers feel more confident when navigating IEP meetings and supporting their students. Overall, it is a great investment for any educator looking to deepen their understanding of special education law and equity.

This course provided a comprehensive understanding of special education law by examining the legal foundations of IDEA, Section 504, the ADA, and ESSA, as well as landmark court cases such as PARC, Mills, Rowley, and Endrew F. that continue to shape educational practice. I especially valued learning how concepts such as Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), Child Find, procedural safeguards, and parent participation influence daily decision-making and ensure students with disabilities receive meaningful educational opportunities.

I really enjoyed the class. Working at my own pace was great! When things started to get hectic at work I could just put the brakes on with my class and pick up in a week or two without being penalized. The instructor provided timely and helpful feedback. She really seemed to care about the education I was receiving and was very helpful.
