I recently completed MAT-914, Patterns and Problem Solving, and I found it a practical and enriching course. We delved into different patterns, including numerical, geometric, and algebraic patterns, and learned various pattern recognition and analysis techniques. The course also emphasized the importance of logical reasoning and critical thinking in problem-solving scenarios, which I found to be fundamental skills applicable in mathematics and many areas of life. One aspect that stood out to me was the balance between theory and application. The course provided a solid theoretical foundation by introducing key concepts and theories related to patterns and problem-solving. However, it also provided ample opportunities to apply these concepts through engaging activities and real-world examples. This combination of theory and application helped me better understand the subject matter and how it relates to practical situations.
