This course introduces the central tenets of teaching the whole Multilingual Learner, in the secondary content area classroom, utilizing student's background knowledge to boost language acquisition while meeting content area goals and objectives. This course is written for a secondary content area teacher with a population of MLLs, or ENL teachers servicing students in content area classes. You will work with the curriculum that you are already teaching, enhance it with helpful vocabulary building activities to strengthen students' English language while create connections with the content. This course & textbook includes useful resources of the activities, checklists, & corresponding rubrics to utilize with your students. Students will be asked to upload images and videos to Canvas. This course focuses on NBPTS Propositions 3 & 4 and is aligned to Common Core standards.
