I enjoyed this course and liked how our responses weren't simply summaries but had us look at how the tales would succeed with students. As an early elementary librarian, I would also like to see tales in this course that are not only in an anthology as the two textbooks were. I use a lot of picture books with this age and find the illustrations are important to the stories for my students, as well.

Learning more about Folktales has been, and will continue to be, very helpful in the work with my students. I wasn't sure how well I would learn using an independent study class format, but the instructor of this course was quick to respond to any questions I had and made it so much more enjoyable. I will definitely be taking more classes from Fresno and Elaine Reimer-Pare in the future.

This course helps you integrate folktale and lore into your own classroom. This approach makes the course practical in addition to being interesting. I highly recommend it. The instructor is helpful, supportive, and insightful. I highly recommend taking this course if you teach primary grades. The content is relevant and interesting. My students will love dramatizing these folktales which will increase learning. I really enjoyed taking this course. Both anthologies of folktales contained great stories that I look forward to sharing with my class. I haven't yet received any feedback on my work other than "excellent work," so my "lack of feedback" comment might be premature. Instructor Luetta Reimer was helpful and cordial with the one query I had during my coursework. The following comment is intended to be a constructive criticism: Where I believe all the classes I've taken so far--and whose syllabi I've perused--fall short is in the area of Christian content and integration. It seems like there is a platonic divide between secular practice and Christian theology in all the courses, so much so that I have yet to encounter anything "Christian" about these ACSI approved courses. This is a lamentable deficiency that I would strongly encourage FPU to consider addressing. I imagine this is an issue for other schools on the ACSI approved list. Please consider revamping your courses to help teachers learn about and integrate the glorious heritage that our faith has given the world. Students enrolled in these ACSI courses should finish each course with a renewed vision of how Christ's Lordship fundamentally transforms their subject area. Blessings!
