Teaching Literary Elements will take your basic practices with character, setting, point of view, and theme and challenge you to do more. The authors of the text have added much complexity and many levels to the devices, and most experienced teachers will pick and choose what works for them, but there is a lot of great information here and you're sure to walk away having learned something and picked up some clever ideas for the classroom.

Teaching Literary Elements (ELA-923) was an excellent experience for me. Coming from a business background; now serving as an administrator in a private school, and having never taught anything remotely related to literature, I had dig deep to fully grasp what most of students probably found intuitive. However, the course was concise and understandable. Our instructor, Tara Warmerdam, was approachable and always immediately responsive. She communicated extremely well. I would make the same choice again and would urge others to consider this course. Time and effort well spent. Enjoy!
