This course was interesting. The instructor is well organized and provided clear expectations of requirements. She also proved to be knowledgeable in the ELA subject matter, and covered course material well. Being an online course Dr. Frisby is understanding of individuals working at their own pace and is always available to provide assistance if needed. I learned a lot from this course and look forward to taking more courses in the future.

The activities contained in the course were engaging, and pertain and adapted to current times. As well as with how many across the country have to do lessons and teachings through virtual platforms.

Dr. Frisby is an amazing teacher. I had a class with her early in my B.A. program, and this is the first course in the Independent Studies Program that I have taken from her. I recently signed up for another. Dr.Frisby communicates in a timely manner and provides helpful positive feedback. Most importantly, she makes it a priority to support you as you adapt the material and assignments to correlate to the grade you are teaching. This support made me feel like I was not just doing "busy work", but learning and implementing assignments, which I would use in the future.

Although challenging, at times, academically and the technology I enjoyed the learning immensely. My colleagues also benefited from my tidbits of information as I worked with the assignments. The course has made a difference in how I teach.:)

ELA-906 Emergent Literacy was an effective and useful course that has helped me understand how to better my teaching strategies and lesson planning in teaching students to read. I learned that a balanced and evidenced-based literacy program ensures children will learn to read. This course also provides user friendly activities that are enjoyable while meaningful for the emergent reader.
