This course had a lot of potential, but I felt the assignments were repetitive and sometimes tedious. There seemed more assignments than necessary. The instructor was very helpful and timely with her feedback and responses. The course was easy to follow in moodle.

This course offers much more than the title suggests! It teaches brain-based learning strategies in addition to a variety of skills for direct vocabulary instruction. Sprenger's Seven Steps to Remembering are logical and easy to implement in any academic discipline. Plus, some assignments are tailored to those with a more visual communication style. Dr. Franks gave timely and helpful feedback on every assignment.

What an eye opening course! Especially since I am a teacher without formal teacher training. I found much of the information helpful even for my own personal understanding of memory. I will say it took me way longer than it should have to finish the course because I did not work on it consistently enough and had to review and relearn a few things. But over all I am glad I took the course. My advice is don't overthink the process and keep things simple as you progress, then put it all together in your lesson plans.

I learned a great deal about how to solve several problems that are challenging for educators. The course is challenging and takes a good amount of time (a lot!), but I emerged with a full toolbox of exciting, immediately implementable strategies and resources. Dr. Franks practices what she preaches, especially in the area of Reinforcing student learning (Step 4 of Sprenger's Learning Cycle - great book on its own...). She gave substantive, supporting feedback on assignments, with an impressively fast turnaround.

This course required careful reflection of my current instructional practices while learning new information about brain-based vocabulary instruction. The materials I created during this course were helpful, and I was able to add and implement a very meaningful and worthwhile unit to our new language arts curriculum.

This course was very beneficial for teacher to help their students remember any information for the long haul. You can tell this course was put together with great care and thought. Dr. Franks is very helpful and knowledgeable in the area of helping teacher implement what they learned from this course. The assignment that are completed go with what you are teaching in your classroom, which is very motivating. Thanks Dr. Franks!!!

Good course. Really loved the information about memory and will definitely keep that in mind as I plan out future vocabulary (and other) lessons. Great choice in reading and videos. Thanks!

This was a very rewarding course. I learned a great deal about the latest brain research and how to apply that knowledge to teaching. Building vocabulary and background knowledge is especially important for ELLs and low SES students; and this course thoroughly taught those skills and strategies. Dr. Franks was exceptionally thoughtful and helpful with her feedback. I was completely engaged in learning the material and appreciated having time to linger over the information rather than rushing through. I will recommend this course to anyone who has not learned about teaching for memory.

I learned a ton in this course that directly effected my strategies in the classroom which is great. The work load was very high, and at times I was stressed about being able to complete it all on top of my full-time teaching schedule. I spent most Saturday and Sunday mornings, sometimes 8 hours a weekend completing assignments over the course of several weekends, so that was hard. But overall, I did learn a lot so I suppose it was worth it.

Although this course provided very good detailed information, it was an abundance of work for a CPD class. I am in the middle of taking online and graduate level courses at a local college. This class was an extreme amount of work.
