This course was amazing! I learned so much about gamification and how it works! After taking this course I am excited to apply the information in the classroom setting. I have taken a few courses from Professor Rob Carey and I really like his teaching style. He also presents information that I haven't learned about in other courses. I highly recommend Gamification in the Classroom (EDUC 945), Sketchnotes for Comprehension (EDUC 934) and Drawing for Perceptual- Cognitive Development (Art 906).

This course was incredible. I have taken 5 courses now through FPU's extended education and all have been nothing short of awesome. As a full time teacher and mom to a toddler, time is something I have very little of. This course, like the others, were so manageable and easy to squeeze in when I had a moment. When I first started this gamification course, I was a little overwhelmed and discouraged because it felt like it was going to be such a big undertaking to do. However, after finishing the first module I felt my excited and confidence shoot up and I knew I had the tools to start moving forward with completing a gamification plan for my classroom. The layout and design of the course was great. The gamified component really help to drive home what is possible in our own classes. The instructor was very positive, responsive, and helpful. The content selected for the course was relevant and applicable to our lives and our profession. I felt like it was the appropriate amount of work and was not overwhelming. I highly recommend taking this course if you're at all interested in the wonderful world of gamification!

This course is phenomenal. As you can tell by the name, it walks you through the process of bringing the best elements of games (board, card, computer, etc..) into the classroom to maximize student engagement and achievement. Professor Carey provides helpful resources including a great textbook along with numerous videos and articles. The course balances theory and application very well. All assignments build either towards designing gamification features for actual use in your classroom or cultivating a community through forum posts for inspiring ideas, sharing advice, and asking questions. Another teacher at my school asked about gamification when I started this course. I will absolutely recommend he take this class for his next certification. This helped me become a more capable and confident teacher, and was more useful than my last 4 years of PD combined.
