I am retired from a rewarding career as a teacher and administrator. I have taught K-12 and college level courses. I was able to experience classes ranging from a one-room school to large districts in both California and Sydney, Australia. Since retiring, I have kept busy writing books, producing video projects, and taking photographs. Reflecting back, some of my best memories in 35 years in education are from fieldtrips I was fortunate to organize. Nothing stands out more than the look on students faces as they taste fly larvae from Mono Lake, walk around the ruins of Bodie discovering a square nail on the ground, squeezing into a cold wetsuit at Catalina for a night dive, or reaching the top of Half Dome for the first time. Much of the background information and first hand knowledge that made these experiences easier for me to conduct came from independent study courses I took throughout my career. I am pleased to now be able to offer similar courses for educators.

What I Like About FPU: Several family members and friends have taken classes and/or earned degrees from FPU and enjoyed the experience. I have always admired the smaller university opportunities making possible a more supportive family atmosphere. Fresno Pacific University is one of the best. I have had the opportunity to interview and hire many teachers from FPU and they’ve been outstanding educators.
