Discover the rich political, cultural and social history of Mexico from ancient times to the present. Great pre-Columbian civilizations, the Spanich Conquest, the role of the Catholic Church, the achievement of independence, struggle and loss in the Mexican-American War. Also study political instability, foreign intervention and modernization in the 19th century, the resolution of the early 20th century and Mexico's continued development through the early 21st century are covered. The course addresses national social studies standards for grades 5-12. NOTE: Required textbook must be purchased separately.
