Creating a learning environment that supports the development of understanding math concepts for our young learners is as critical as the choice of curriculum expectations. Lessons are developed to encourage and promote understanding, children will learn that mathematics makes sense and is applicable to their everyday needs. This standards-based methods course offers lessons and strategies for teaching number in a developmental sequence including grouping, number patterns, base ten, number sense in quantities of 100 and beyond, addition, subtraction, and beginning multiplication and division skills.
