The course provided an interesting historical overview and perspective of educational achievement for various populations and considered possible barriers to closing the educational achievement gap. I found the information valuable but was often frustrated at how dated all the required readings were (2005 and prior). I am concerned my honest review will have negative impacts on my grade so I wish this wasn't a required step towards grading.

This course provided relevant information for those concerned with equity for students in the American education system. However the primary textbook is a bit dated, given it presents an abundance of statistics regarding ethnic minority populations which change fairly often in the US. Yet for those who are unfamiliar with the issues, the primary text is quite eye-opening.

After taking this class, I believe that I am very informed and aware of the college crisis where I live and teach.
