I appreciated the instructor's quick responses to my email inquiries about grades, pinpointing the areas in which I could add more detail or clarifications in my assignments and allowing me to resubmit. The textbook and accompanying videos were great at providing authentic examples of student responses, helping to further my understanding of the main points within each chapter.

This course really helped me view math through a different lens, that perhaps I wouldn't have been able to see without taking this course. Because of this course, I was able to help one of my struggling first grade students by providing some of the more guided and direct instruction that she missed in kindergarten: counting objects (so pivotal) and counting to 120 incrementally (1-50 to mastery before moving on) on a hundreds chart. She FINALLY found the pattern!!! Professor Bailey was also very prompt with her grading, which allows students to know where they stand well before. It also motivated me to keep moving forward! Loved this course!

Great experience! I was able to reflect on my current teaching and implement what I learned throughout this course. I enjoyed the different assignments, especially having a choice on the way I wanted to respond and all the videos that actually showed children participating.

This course was very informative. The assignments were appropriate, and the professor was prompt in all her responses. I would recommend this course to fellow colleagues.

I wish I had learned about Fresno Continuing Education a long time ago because it was relevant, flexible, and convenient! I already completed so much coursework prior to this and this has been the best experience thus far. I look forward to my next course and I will certainly recommend this to my colleagues!

I really enjoyed this course. The course textbook takes you on the journey of learning how preschool-aged children begin to learn and build mathematical skills and strategies while incorporating many video clips so that the reader can experience and have a more clear picture of what is being discussed. The course centers around using a student-centered approach for teaching mathematics and is truly an eye-opener for those that are used to a more traditional way of teaching.

I enjoyed this self paced course. There were many videos to go along with this course, both from the instructor and the course material. I particularly liked that the instructor allowed some choice with assignments, either a paper or a powerpoint to demonstrate learning. I learned a lot about how children learn to count and solve math problems.
