This course provides an overview of the major issues and factors inpacting program design, administration and development of gifted education programs in California and in the nation. Relevant sections of the Education Code and Title 5 Regulations will be reviewed, as well as Coordinated Compliance Review preparation, the state application for GATE funding, and the Recommended Standards for Programs for Gifted and Talented Studnets. Various program models will be discussed with special emphasis on identification issues and effective parent involvement.
