This Standards based course is designed to take educators back in time on the road with Mark Twain. Samuel Clemens was born in Missouri but Mark Twain was created in the West. The course text takes the teacher through Clemens years in the West where he/she can experience the context within which this author created many of his most profound literary contributions. The DVD teaches how the Civil War effected the West and Nevada became a State.

This course addresses standards for those teaching geography, history/social science, English, literature, or journalism. Experiences from the course can be added to thematic units to provide a meaningful experience for students at many grade levels. Many options are available to customize this course to better fit teacher needs. Visitations are suggested but not required.
