The modern day coach is increasingly challenged with ethical and moral dilemmas in our competitive sports world. The ability to think morally is crucial to the successful building of character and positive moral reasoning. This course will provide a practical context with which the coach can better understand and apply sound principles relative to moral character and common ethical issues. Compatible with the NASPE national coaching standards, issues such as violence and intimidation, eligibility, gamesmanship, winning and losing, ergogenic aids, gender, and race will be examined. Through various activities, the coach will develop an informed and practical response towards moral and social issues and dilemmas found in our sports world.
